Woods Cross Refinery
The Silver Eagle Refining Woods Cross plant is located in the heart of the Salt Lake Valley, a few miles north of downtown Salt Lake City. The plant was originally built in 1954 as a Sure-Seal wax refining plant. From 1960 until 1999, the plant was owned by a series of different oil refining companies including Crysen and Inland Refining. Evanston, Wyoming — Silver Eagle Refining Plant
Evanston Refinery
The Silver Eagle Evanston refinery was built in the late 1980s and started up in 1989 by Lair Petroleum. Lair briefly operated the refinery until they were purchased by Oxbow Hydrocarbons later in 1989. Oxbow, owned by William “Bill” Koch, operated the plant until 1991 when the Iraqi war drove up crude prices to the extent that the operation was no longer profitable. [Learn More]
